Now that Cuerden Hall is vacant, the insurers require some extra security measures to be undertaken. They are particularly worried about travellers taking over the grounds.
Earlier this year, Sue Ryder put up more signposts reminding everyone that the paths people have used for walking through the Hall’s grounds are permissive. There are no public rights of way.
In order to protect the Hall from vandals, travellers and for health and safety reasons, the permissive paths have been closed and the site protected by Heras fencing, cameras, window shutters and concrete blocks.
These will remain in place until planning permission for the restoration have been obtained and during the subsequent conservation building works after which the hall will be a private home once again.
